Will Sockolov

Head Coach

Will is a Bay Area native who grew up playing soccer, snowboarding, and competing on the Track & Field team. He executes his love of functional movement with a keen eye and a thorough understanding of human movement. When Will isn’t coaching at the gym, he spends time leading Freestyle Connection Seminars with Carl Paoli and refereeing GRID League matches. Will is a four-time CrossFit Games NorCal Regionals Team athlete.  As a lifelong student, Will holds an extensive list of CrossFit specialty certifications and regularly attends additional training which he applies when coaching and programming. In addition to coaching group classes, Will has extensive experience with private and small group training with athletes of all levels and ages.

Vince Som

Head of Programming

Vince discovered CrossFit while serving in the Navy, and has never turned back. Holding an international title in amateur kickboxing and competing nationally in Weightlifting, he seeks to apply his experience in competition and sport to all things CrossFit. Vince continues to study under national and international coaches in Weightlifting and Gymnastics to continually better his knowledge and skills in coaching. Along with group classes, he is also apt at individual coaching with athletes of any level.

Marc Sloan

Management

Marc has an innate talent for all things related to athlete performance. Marc’s passion for performance is deeply rooted in a foundation of competitive sports (surfing, body building, football, and baseball) while growing up on the Gold Coast. Marc trained and competed as a bodybuilder for many years where he fine tuned his training and nutrition knowledge. He found Crossfit when he refocused on functional fitness and performance. He has subsequently trained and competed with top level CrossFit and weightlifting athletes and coaches, which has further developed his knowledge of CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting. He has coached athletes of all levels, ranging from beginners looking to make a healthy change, to high school basketball teams, regional Crossfit athletes, and individuals whom are seeking the next competitive edge. In recent years, Marc has focused on understanding and progressing his movement as an athlete, which directly translates to his ability to coach others with an emphasis in functional movements. Marc regularly attends continuing education and certification courses to improve his group class and private coaching abilities.

Matthew Brockhaus

Coach

Matt graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a degree in Athletic Training, working with a number of Div. I athletic programs.  As an athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning coach, Matt has worked in a variety of health, fitness, and sport environments, including conducting performance and metabolic testing, clinical rehabilitation and surgical recovery, and in high schools. Matt also has extensive experience coaching individuals and small groups towards performance and physique goals, or out of injury. Having found CrossFit in 2007, Matt has seen it change and evolve over the years, and is excited to help others explore and develop their own capacity for greater functional fitness. As an athlete, Matt has competed in all manner of individual and team CrossFit competitions, weightlifting, and various running races.

Zach Seale

Coach

Zach has been active in sports since a young age and simply loves to move. He was offered scholarships to run x-country at several colleges, but chose to study at UC Riverside where he walked-on to their soccer team. Soon after graduation, Zach realized his calling was in health and fitness. He was lucky enough to find CrossFit which allowed him to share his love for movement and feed his inner competitive beast. Zach has been so taken with CrossFit he believes it should be added to regular school curriculum one day.

Forrest Sansom

Coach

Forrest has a background in running sports, specializing in anything 800m and below.  He has since discovered the importance of strength and mobility for the long term success of any athlete, and looks to build not only strong and healthy clients, but bodies that will withstand a lifetime of use.  He has worked with CEOs and high level executives on a private basis as well as several games-level masters competitors.  He also helps implement health and wellness programs for companies around the bay area.

Caleb Johnson

Coach

Caleb “Boog” Johnson was born and raised in St. Paul, MN. After playing some college football in North Dakota, Caleb moved to San Francisco in 2009 and discovered CrossFit in 2011.  Currently he is finishing his degree at CCSF and hopes to transfer to SF State to major in Kinesiology.  Recently Caleb has explored competitive Weightlifting and under the direction of Coach Vince he placed 4th in the 105kg class at the 2014 USAW University Nationals, and 19th at the 2015 American Open.

Debra Austin

Coach

Debra grew up in New York, participating in competitive swimming from an early age, which led her to Stony Brook University’s Division I swim team, and an undergrad degree in Athletic Training. While on the swim team, she took an interest in strength and conditioning and began practicing CrossFit to improve conditioning. While completing her Masters degree in Kinesiology at San Jose State, Debra worked at SF State as a Graduate Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach, and fell in love with the Bay Area. She completed her CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and developed a passion for coaching. Debra’s background as a competitive athlete has driven her to compete in CrossFit and USAW Olympic weightlifting. She now uses her education and background in Athletic Training and Kinesiology to deliver safe and effective functional fitness coaching with a passion to help others improve and reach new goals.
